Nabal Project 1
I didn't know what to expect when I got to Harder hall. I was ready for the whole thing to be torn apart. but that was not the case, when I got there it had pretty much had been the shape of a bike... I didn't have tools or time to really bend and work the metal. I was really turned off by the shape of the bicycle. The silhouette of a bycycle is very cold, meaning in our culture, it is a tool. The way I perceive a bicycle is the way I would view a fork, I use one about twice a day and sometimes notice a design or two on one but there is a only such a limited amount of space to work with. The ornimental aspects, if any, are modest. The horizontal position is a dead give away to a bycycle's application and use. Trying to find a odd angle to display the bike and make a viewer give pause and break up the usual form of a bycycle was what I was aiming for. I wanted to make the bike move in a way that one wouldn't move.
